Boid Breaches Barriers Offering the First NFT on EOS with Real Utility
Boid: A Brief Introduction
For those that may need an introduction or refresher, Boid is essentially a social computer operating on the EOS Blockchain. By mining BOID users give Boid access to any unused CPU, GPU and other resources on their personal or business computers. It is entirely up to those mining what percentage of CPU resources right down times of inactivity what resources are allocated to Boid all at no cost to the users regular performance. All the totaled resources that Boid is able to garner from its members are then put into the solving of important computational problems ranging from things like medicine, climatology, astronomy, and machine learning.
Boid mining is orientated around seasons, each a total of 10 weeks, whereby the computations that are performed are via the network of distributed allocated CPU and GPU allocated resources revolve around causes such as helping scientists simulate and isolate more effective treatments for cancer, Alzheimers, Covid-19, and other pressing health related medical diseases and issues, run simulations that predict the effects of climate change on our planet, simulate the movement of celestial bodies and help researchers study the most fundamental aspects of how the universe works, and even training neural networks to power the next generation of artificial intelligence.
Users of Boid join a team and within their mining capacity these teams compete for the top slot in garnering resources towards performing these complicated but oh so important algorithms. And this best part about this team based season orientated computational mining effort, well, that is quite simply that depending upon which team users become a member of the prizes for helping both the team and Boid in this endeavor are eligible to all who qualify within the layout of what has been announced whether they be various tokens put up by the teams or in some cases physical or even NFT based prizes.
How the Mining Generates BOID Power
In simple terms, the more processing power that you give generates more BOID power which in turn gives you more rewards.
A New Integrated and Quite NiFTy Approach
In order to keep up with the times and introduce the next phase of Boid mining to users, Boid will be launching a series of NFT’s and other products designed to enhance the mining experience for all the Boiders out there. To kick this series of endeavors off, Boid will be introducing a series of NFT cards dubbed quite simply ‘The Science Series’. Not only will these cards be collectible and tradable as NFT’s (and yes, they really do look that cool), but in addition the possession of these cards in a users account will give certain attributes towards the Boid mining rate in the designated time frame.
To kick the Science Series off, we thought it only appropriate to bring in the man who potentially was so ahead of his time that even he couldn’t have imagined how uncanny much of what he dreamed of and envisioned of future science and technology would match his whimsy. We can actually credit him for the idea of wireless Internet and smartphones. Believe it or not, in 1901, he actually had the idea for a wireless way to gather information, code it in his lab, change the frequency, and broadcast it to a hand-held device — nearly exactly how our smartphones work today. Like many of his great ideas, it was never created or tested.
And yes, if you guessed Nikola Tesla then you fine Sir or Madam know your history well.
The Brass, Bronze, Silver, and Gold Tesla NFT’s and all their attributes can be seen at https://eos.atomichub.io/creator/collection/boid4science/schema/science. Please note that these Tesla cards cannot be staked on top of each other and rewards are only valid for active miners of the Boid season.
Auction Timeline
3 weeks from October 26th to November 16th, 2020.
How the Auction Works
In order to participate in the auction you simply need to login to the Boid App at https://app.boid.com/donate with an applicable account and place your bids in any of the 14 supported tokens. Those include VIG, EOS, BBT, WAX, EFX, BOX, PBTC, BOID, TLOS, CHEX, TRYBE, KROWN, VIGOR, and ATMOS.
Finishing Up
And there you have it. As you can clearly see not only do you have your pick of tokens to contribute to the auction, but the way that it is orientated is unique in the way many things are integrated such as mint numbers and ability to utilize these very special NFT’s to up the percentile of Boid mining. And for those that might not yet be mining BOID just remember, it is never too late and there are many teams that would love to have you. All that aside, the auction itself is quite an interesting thing to partake in and in the end, a very cool piece of useful and quite fantastic NFT of original artistic merit will be yours for the keeping.
What Else is in Store for the Future of Boid
As previously mentioned, the Tesla NFT will be the first of many in the scientist series but that is not all that Boid has in store. In fact some other things that Boid is beginning to explore is taking the app multi-chain and the creation of a Boid social game. By contributing to this and future auctions you will be helping us to raise some funds to realize some of these future iterations planned to spread not only the power that Boid mining has to continue going about actively improving the state of understanding in this often complex world we reside, but also the way in which the Boid community can continue to interact with and enjoy the rest of those with like mind and spirit no matter where they hail from or call their team allegiances.
