Boid is improving the EOS account creation process

The vision behind Boid has always been as a platform that helps to bridge blockchains and distributed computing technology to a broad audience in a social and accessible way. This is why Boid users are only required to login to Boid using a simple email/password authentication system.

Using an off-chain account system means that new users can access all the functionality of the Boid platform without any blockchain exposure. The only aspect of the platform that requires a blockchain account is when the user wishes to interact with the BOID tokens. Tokens accumulate in an off-chain Boid account as a pending balance until the user links an EOS account.

To facilitate new users we have launched the Boid EOS Account Creator at accounts.boid.com Where we feature a few different options to create EOS accounts including Wombat, EOS Name service, and our own native account creation service powered by BOID tokens.

Any user can easily spend their pending BOID tokens to generate a real EOS account. When the EOS account is generated, it is automatically linked to the user’s Boid account and subsequent pending Boid payments are paid on chain. The Boid platform allows anyone to join the blockchain ecosystem without relying on any fiat gateway or any traditional payment solutions.

You have to have enough pending BOID generated. If you don’t have enough BOID, all you need to do is generate Boid Power and wait as tokens collect in your pending balance. Learn more about Boid Power: https://trybe.one/boid-power

The next step is to choose a 12 character EOS account name.

Provide your public Keys. We suggest that you generate your keys in a secure manner.

Confirm the EOS Account creation details. Make sure your key is backed up in a secure manner.

The Account creation process will take about ten seconds. If there is an error, you can contact support@boid.com with the creation ID and we will resolve the issue for you.

The Account is created and linked to your Boid account. All BOID token payments will now be sent on the blockchain to this account. You can import your keys into any EOS wallet. Welcome to the EOS Ecosystem!

What’s Next?

The current implementation of the Boid EOS Account Creator creates accounts with typical owner/active keys, but we want to be able to take full advantage of the EOS Key authority system.

Automatic Proxy Vote

In the future we will allow users to opt into having a custom vote only key as well as a special permission that makes it super simple for you to vote for the boidcomproxy or any other voter proxy of your choosing.

Account Recovery Partner

Typical everyday users are accustomed to the ability to recover access to their accounts when they are hacked or forget their passwords. The EOS blockchain is unique in that accounts can have multiple layers of permissions, including the ability for some third party to reset or change an account keys. By utilizing multisig and time delayed transactions it’s possible to find a balance between immutability and recoverability. We are currently following projects such as mykey.org which have a live implementation of a key recovery solution.

Dapp Specific Keys

Passing your owner/active keys around on various devices is not great practice when the majority of your transactions happen inside specific Dapps and only require a specific set of permissions. We want to build a simple system where you can easily generate Dapp specific keys for your account and these keys can been be stored and transported with less reliance on strict security.
